Project involved working out logistics in the execution of work. Approval and Collection of required materials like red moorum, aggregates, cement and bitumen at Mangalore Port Site in the main land. I was responsible for setting up of Office at Mangalore and Agathi Island.
Project involved stabilization of soil which is of Coral Base and is Calcareous in nature. This posed challenges to the design / execution process. Sub-base was prepared using mixture of Mangalore earth and Coral Sand. Base Course was prepared using Cement stabilized soil. Asphalt layers included Penetration Macadam, Bituminous Macadam, Semi-dense Asphalt Concrete and Dense Asphalt concrete. I was responsible for timely completion, Quality Control and Billing for the Project.
I was awarded a memento by the then Minister of Civil Aviation Mr. Moti Lal Vora in recognition of my excellent and extraordinary performance. The whole project team was very much appreciated by the then Prime Minister Late Mr. Rajiv Gandhi; during his stay at Agathi and Bangaram Islands.
